Brody's 7th Birthday

Updated: Feb 3, 2021

Brody’s 7th Birthday!

On Friday January 22nd we checked into the ever so fabulous Van Horne Suite at Fairmont Banff Springs. We started Brody’s birthday celebration with a private fire pit that included a bottle of Prosecco for mom and dad, a fancy box of chocolates, s’more kit, and a warm red check buffalo fleece blanket from Rocky Mountain Flannel. After the fire, we went back to our suite to enjoy the jacuzzi.

Saturday January 23rd (Brody’s birthday), we ordered room service and he opened gifts from mom and dad, had a special movie theme gift basket delivered to the room sent from Auntieee and Ankle, the hotel slid a special birthday card under the door with a gift card for a free dessert, he also had a special gift from Uncle Lee.

After breakfast, we were supposed to go Fat Tire Biking – however the bike would have been too big for Brody, so we went skating instead! Turns out this year he can stay up on his skates and now LOVES to be on the ice. He even told me that he may play hockey. YAY!!!!

For lunch we ordered from STOCK Food & Drink– and I have to give a big shout out to Jen (who works there) and is just the nicest and friendliest EVER!!

Next up was our snowshoe tour! We got Brody snowshoes for his Birthday, and he is already a pro since he goes often at school. Marisa (our resort activities tour guide) was full of incredible information and fun facts that she shared with us along the tour.

It was quite chilly this weekend, so back in to the jacuzzi we went.

It was now time for Virtual Bingo! It was held over zoom. We played with a handful of other families staying at The Springs and it was hosted by Marisa. We scored a couple bingo’s and won a some free items from Stock and Brody received a fun “Kids at the Castle” bag full of goodies!

Dinner was ordered via room service (no restaurants were open to dine in, thanks covid **eye roll**) But Brody and I (especially) love ordering room service – so we were fine with that.

With full bellies we had the energy to go on a scavenger hunt around the hotel and do some exploring. I finally got to order The Bradshaw, which was voted Banff’s best cocktail. “An elegant yet sassy riff on the classic cosmo,” The Bradshaw is hibiscus infused Wild Life Vodka, Cointreau, orange bitters, simple syrup, rose water, prosecco and topped with pink cotton candy! It was honestly the best drink I have ever had!

Back in our suite we cut Brody’s extravagant custom cake, made by my girl Heather Decksheimer’s company - Sunshine Sweets

A blue colour vanilla flavour cake, with vanilla custard and yummy buttercream, exploding with m&ms and sprinkles! I do not even have words for how amazing this cake was! Heather you really outdid yourself! Please go and like her page and see all the amazing cakes she has made!!!

At 10pm it was the premiere of Hallmark Channel USA movie that I got to work on. Unfortunately, we all fell asleep, but good thing I had it recording at home. A Winter Getaway is now streaming on demand...check it out!!! We did watch it when we got home Sunday night and I absolutely adore the movie and am so thankful I got to work on such an incredible set.

Sunday January 24th, we ordered our last room service in our fancy suite. More skating, walking around and shopping was done and before we knew it, we were on our way home.

The Banff Springs has been and will always be my favourite place in the world and I am so glad that we had such a special Birthday weekend for our Little Prince.
